This is exactly the “MAIN THING” Manchester United players and Erik Ten Hag are not doing for him. I watched him play throughout out his time at Denmark and Atlanta. For me, he plays better than Haaland to be honest. It’s so unfortunate that they are not doing this one thing he needs”-It “must be s***” for Rasmus Højlund at Manchester United, says ex-defender

Paul Parker, a former Manchester United defender, has weighed in on Rasmus Højlund’s challenging situation, citing two specific players as contributing factors. Despite Højlund’s position as the team’s current top scorer with seven goals across various competitions, he has faced criticism for his limited output in the Premier League.

In the past two league matches, the 20-year-old managed to score, ending a 14-game goal drought. However, concerns have been raised about the support and service he receives while playing alongside Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho under Erik ten Hag’s management.

Parker empathizes with the difficulties Højlund may encounter, remarking that playing with teammates like Rashford and Garnacho can be challenging for any striker. He notes Garnacho’s impressive individual season but suggests that the playing dynamic may not suit Højlund.

Responding to Roy Keane’s criticism regarding Højlund’s perceived lack of goal-scoring desire, Parker acknowledges the challenge of Højlund not getting enough opportunities to receive the ball. However, he believes there is room for improvement in Højlund’s movements in the box, emphasizing the importance of him being more proactive and demanding the ball.

With Anthony Martial sidelined due to groin surgery, Højlund is currently the only recognized striker in the senior squad. Despite Parker’s observations, recent performances suggest a growing partnership between Garnacho and Højlund, particularly evident in their comeback victory against Aston Villa at the end of 2023.
