Manchester United has received a boost in their summer transfer activity; the prospective alternative for their top target has already been signed.

To some extent, the fate of the Dutchman departing Inter Milan at season-end hinges on the Italian giants’ stance. Notably, Manchester United isn’t the sole English suitor; other Premier League outfits, including Bayer Leverkusen (managed by Xabi Alonso), express interest.

Bundesliga frontrunners, compiling a list of potential Jeremie Frimpong replacements, perceive Dumfries as a viable option amidst their five-point lead over reigning champions Bayern Munich. However, Inter Milan’s reluctance to meet Dumfries’s €5 million salary demand creates a disparity, as they cap their offer at €3.5 million annually, €1 million more than his current earnings.

Despite securing Taj Buchanan as a potential successor in January, Inter remains under scrutiny from Erik ten Hag’s squad, who admires Dumfries’s talent. With Dumfries’s contract expiring in 2025, Inter could entertain a €20 million bid, a figure Manchester United finds reasonable, given their admiration for the player.
