Pep Guardiola has discussed the reduced playing time of 28-year-old Manchester City player Jack Grealish, attributing it to the need for the player’s development. Guardiola highlighted that Grealish, who hasn’t started a league game since December, is now competing with high-performing teammates and must rediscover his form from the previous season. In a recent press conference ahead of a match against Everton, Guardiola expressed satisfaction with all his players, including Grealish, and emphasized the importance of the winger reaching his full potential. Despite a different season compared to the last, Guardiola is optimistic about Grealish’s improvement and looks forward to providing him with more playing minutes.

Moreover, Grealish, who started 41 games across all competitions last season, has only made seven Premier League starts this season. With three goals and one assist in 13 league appearances, Guardiola believes Grealish needs to step up, especially when compared to the goal contributions of other players like Jeremy Doku and Bernardo Silva. Despite the challenges, Guardiola seems confident in Grealish’s ability to meet expectations and views the winger’s potential development as a significant positive for the team.
